Joint venture for the thermolysis of end-of-life tyres
UniPyrum is the joint venture established under the agreement signed by Pyrum Innovations and Unitank Holding to develop and operate five to ten state-of-the-art plants for the chemical recycling of end-of-life tyres via thermolysis.
Under the agreement, ownership of the new company – headquartered in Hamburg – is split between Unitank Holding and Pyrum Innovations at 51% and 49% respectively, and it will be led by an independent management team. Each plant will have a recycling capacity of at least 22,000 tonnes per year of tyres, and the first facility will be built in Emleben (Germany).
The partnership aims to accelerate the circular economy in Europe, focusing on sustainable growth, industrial scalability and a strong regional impact. UniPyrum will use a thermolysis technology developed by Pyrum Innovations and will leverage Unitank Holding’s expertise in operating critical infrastructure. The modular plant design will also enable flexible, demand-driven expansion at each site.
