A tour to discover "winning companies" in Italy

There is also Icma San Giorgio among the companies selected for the third edition of "Imprese Vincenti" (“Winning Company”), an initiative of Intesa Sanpaolo bank taking place in these days. The company from San Giorgio su Legnano (near Milan) was one of the protagonists of the first of eight virtual stages, held on September 15, according to a programme that will end on November 11. This initiative aims to include the participating Italian SMEs into paths of enhancement, visibility and support for development, strategic skills, training and workshops.

The companies defined as "winning" are considered capable - despite the crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic - of growing, maintaining jobs, implementing digital, organizational and business development and activating solutions entailing excellent economic, social and environmental sustainability. The 2021 edition of the Imprese Vincenti Digital Tour is divided into thematic stages that represent the cornerstones of Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR): innovation, research and development (September 15); internationalisation (September 23); digitalisation (September 30); agri-food (October 7); supply chains and territory (October 41); sustainability - ESG (October 21); people and human resources (November 4); impact (November 11).

In the first stage, the 14 "winning companies" in innovation, research and development (Icma San Giorgio, Adria Med, Ausonia, Bonetti Costruzioni Meccaniche, Dimar, Dirello, Elettrolaser, Ibix, Lithos, Mastelli, MDB, Podium Engineering, Siap+Micros and Stim) were presented along with their business history and strategic choices that led them to consolidate their development path. With regard to innovation, research and development, the Intesa Sanpaolo Research Department conducted an analysis on a sample of about 43 thousand Italian manufacturing companies with a turnover of more than 750 thousand euros in 2017.

A manufacturer of twin-screw systems for extruding and recycling of polymer materials, Icma San Giorgio has been in the business for 75 years, which places it among the leading manufacturing companies in the Italian machinery industry. Founded in 1945 by the Colombo family - already operating in the foundry sector since the early twentieth century - the company began its activity in the field of woodworking equipment. Following the development of the Italian industry, it then switched to plastic processing machinery. In this sector as well as in that of plastics recycling, Icma San Giorgio is today an established protagonist, whose economic and development models are based on circularity and sustainability.
