Franco Meropiali appointed new President of PlasticsEurope Italia

The Board of Directors of PlasticsEurope Italia, the sector association representing Italian plastics producers within Federchimica, has unanimously elected Franco Meropiali as President, succeeding Lorenzo Bottinelli.

“I am honoured to take on this role,” the newly elected President said, “and to carry forward the commitment of those who came before me, in today’s highly complex legislative and geopolitical context. This is a period marked by increasingly unstable global trade dynamics, significant uncertainty and major transformation across the plastics industry. Now more than ever, it is vital to assert the indispensable contribution plastics make in addressing the green transition – a challenge our materials must meet and win, also thanks to the wide range of initiatives being driven by companies across the sector to accelerate the shift towards an ever more circular economy.”

A graduate in Economics and Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan, with more than 30 years’ experience in the chemical industry, Franco Meropiali heads the Recycling Business Unit at Versalis (Eni) and serves on the Board of Directors of PlasticsEurope Italia. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the COREPLA consortium, as well as of companies controlled by or affiliated with Versalis in Italy and abroad
