Gimac's double partnership at Formnext 2025

Italian plastics processing equipment manufacturer Gimac took part in Formnext 2025, the international trade fair dedicated to additive manufacturing and smart industrial production technologies, held in Frankfurt from 18-21 November, within the exhibition spaces of two companies that have chosen its technology as the foundation for their projects: eXgineering and Moi Composites, which employ it with thermoplastic and thermosetting materials respectively.

"Being present at Formnext through companies that represent the excellence of European and international innovation is a source of pride for us," stated Simone Maccagnan, business development manager at Gimac. "It means that our technology is recognised as an enabling driver, capable of adapting to different contexts – from thermoplastic to thermosetting materials – and supporting the transition towards more flexible, sustainable and integrated production."

Within Moi Composites' project, Gimac provided an important component for the S18 end-effector series based on SFM (Short Fiber Manufacturing) technology, particularly relating to dosing functionalities. The S18 series was presented by Moi Composites at Formnext alongside the HFP Series - Hybrid Fabrication Platform, an integrated hybrid platform that combines robotic deposition of short fibre-reinforced thermosetting pastes with precision milling options, enabling the production of large-format composite material components with maximum efficiency, accuracy and reduced material waste. The SFM technology, developed by Moi Composites, allows deposition speeds of up to 250 mm/s, ensuring continuous and accurate printing of complex geometries without additional supports, with a consistent reduction in processing times and environmental impact.

In parallel, eXgineering brought applications of the same Gimac technological foundation to Formnext, adapted to the field of thermoplastic materials. Among the innovations presented were PEEK products created with 3D printing, examples of semi-finished products manufactured with RAM technology, bi-material manufacturing and hollow pattern deposition.

In this dual scenario, Gimac confirmed itself as a cross-cutting and strategic partner for the development of technologies applicable in different fields and with various materials, distinguishing itself for its ability to provide technology that enables the transformation of ideas and research into robust and unique solutions. The company has also reaffirmed its capacity to integrate materials science, precision mechanics and engineering know-how to deliver solutions that anticipate the needs of future manufacturing.
