Piovan joins the UN Global Compact
PiovanGroup has announced that it has joined the United Nations Global Compact as part of its corporate strategy to operate as a responsible company. With this step, the Santa Maria di Sala (Venice, Italy) Group strengthens its commitment to conduct its business responsibly in line with the Global Compact’s principles, take concrete action to support society, and report annually on the progress achieved.
“With a presence in over 70 countries and thousands of customers worldwide, every decision we make at PiovanGroup has a global impact. Joining the United Nations Global Compact means actively working to respect human rights, promote fair working conditions, protect the environment and operate with integrity in the marketplace; it means working together with our partners to build a sustainable industry for future generations,” said Filippo Zuppichin, CEO of PiovanGroup.
The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative, launched by the United Nations in 2000. It now involves thousands of companies and organisations in more than 160 countries, with the aim of promoting responsible and sustainable development. Participating companies commit to integrating the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles into their strategies and day-to-day operations, across four core areas: human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption. Membership also requires an annual, transparent report on results and progress in implementing the principles and contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
