Colines sets new benchmarks in film technology

COLINES continues to uphold its commitment to profound innovation, achieving noteworthy milestones in the field of film packaging technology. Among the many innovations introduced by the Italian company, two have garnered the most attention from the market: on one hand, the PURE technology, dedicated to trims re-feeding in cast lines for Polypropylene extrusion; on the other hand, in the realm of stretch film, the development of solutions for extruding stretch and cling films from entirely biodegradable and compostable resins.

PURE technology is one of the most important developments realized by COLINES, since it performs aligned with the extrusion process, a proper separation of the in-line trims from the virgin granules. Moreover, this technology allows a further employment of additional scraps of the same nature to be added to the production stream, thus emphasizing the amount of recycled material in film production. PURE technology has been already validated amongst several selected customers already using it in their respective industrial flexible packaging films production, continuosly over the last three years.

Main benefits of PURE technology versus old one (with re-alimentation hopper) are:
- Increased mechanical & optical characteristics;
- Improved post-conversion quality of metalized film (better optics);
- Improved post-conversion quality of laminated film (faster conversion);
- Improved post-conversion quality of printed film (less than 40 µm);

Moving to stretch film, thanks to a very deep and profitable cooperation, COLINES and Fi-Plast have jointly developed new biodegradable and compostable solutions for Stretch and Cling films.

The result has been achieved in collaboration with ID-Comp and will hit two crucial markets such as industrial and food packaging. COLINES ALLrollEX lines were able to extrude films with high transparency and elasticity, perfectly suitable for the packaging of fresh products, industrially automated production, and the packaging of meats and other foods. Companies specializing in cast extrusion will be able to industrialize and refine products for their specific sectors of interest.
