Amut-Erema plant in operation in Novara

A summer of “bottle to packaging”

Technology - Wednesday, 18 July 2018

Over these days and the coming weeks, specifically July 17 and 18, July 23-27, September 3-7 and September 24-28, a plant developed by the Italian manufacturer Amut in conjunction with Erema is and will be in operation, for demonstration purposes, at Amut’s Novara facilities. It is a plant designed to recycle flakes (derived entirely from post-consumer PET bottles) and produce certified single-layer foils for use in contact with foodstuffs.

Thanks to the combination of Erema’s Vacurema technology with Amut’s Inline Sheet system, the line is able to carry out a direct “bottle to packaging” process, guaranteeing energy savings, no loss of intrinsic viscosity during the production process, and a lower kW/kg ratio. The foil produced is approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration, the US food and medicines regulating body) and by Efsa (the European Food Safety Authority). The proposed system can reach a flow rate of 1000 kg per hour and produces foils with a net width of 1200 mm and thicknesses ranging from 150 to 1500 micrometres.
